Xoco chieftess Zar demotes Silvia to nova after alleged violence against Xoco ‘sister’

AMAZON — The bonds of sisterly love in the Xoco camp were shattered Tuesday when Silvia, a Xoco elder, attacked Jar, a member of the lesbian tribe.

According to court documents provided exclusively to the Amazon River Sun, Jar was provoking Silvia over what was said to be “behavior and misunderstandings” involving a previous incident, of which no further details were provided. Silvia allegedly responded to the provocation with violence against Jar.

Among the Xoco, sister-on-sister violence is considered quite taboo. Chieftess Khaing Zar convened an impromptu hearing, which Silvia didn’t attend. Silvia was represented by the comely Zena, and Calm acted as state prosecutor, representing the alleged victim in the attack, Jar.

According to witnesses, Zena provided a passionate defense of Silvia and argued her client should be treated with leniency, citing her long history with the tribe, which is marked by exemplary displays of loyalty and dedication. It was also noted she won the Best Bum Contest.

In her Aug. 5 ruling, Zar concluded that both parties shared some blame for the incident. During her rebuke, Jar had failed to act appropriately when speaking to a senior member of the tribe, and Silvia had violated Xoco law by committing violence against her sister, which Zar wrote was “inexcusable.”

Elder Silvia was demoted to nova, a term the tribe uses for new initiates. As a nova, Silvia will be required to serve all over Xoco in whatever way they ask, and she will hold the title for one month. Jar was sentenced to wearing a “Peace & Love” t-shirt for a period of two weeks, and she is required to spread “nothing but love and well-being amongst her sisters.”
