AMAZON — The Tapirape on Sunday held the second annual pet blessing, and dozens brought their pets, ranging from the exotic to the common, to receive the Tapirape pet prayer.
“Welcome, friends, families, wanderers and especially the animals who brought their humans with them! Today belongs to the animals of the jungle and to those who share our homes, our journeys, our food — sometimes without asking — and our hearts,” Summer, who announced the opening of the blessing, said with a laugh.

Among the pets that were received the blessing were a cougar, a capybara, an elephant, a parrot, as well as the an assortment of cats, dogs and goats. Also, Silvia bonded with a piranha that swam in a wooden tub.

“Sometimes an animal simply looks at you and decides: Yes. This human will do. And from that moment onward, your food is no longer entirely yours. Your bed is no longer entirely yours. Your chair is certainly no longer yours,” Whispering Wind said before delivering a blessing to each pet individually.
This year’s event followed up on last year’s blessing, which also featured a poodle and a giant cobra.
