Dany, one of the original founding members of Xoco Tribe and a former tribal elder, passed away recently. She will be sorely missed.
Ten years ago when the Xoco Tribe was founded in Amazon River, Dany was there with the first Chieftess Emilee. When I was elected Chieftess some three years or so later, Dany, as one of the original Xocos, became my trusted elder and friend. I loved her and we shared in many activities together.
As a personality, red-haired Dany showed some of those characteristics traditionally associated with red-haired girls; she was firm in her views, stubborn at times, loyal to me and fiercely loyal to her tribe. But deeper than loyalty to a tribal identity, runs that loyalty to friends, to the enjoyment of companionship, to that spirit of affection and love that is shared between those who are committed to each other. There are lots of stories that could be told about Dany, but suffice it to say that her loyalty to her friends and the group she belonged to, was truly important to her and ran deep. Both I and my tribal sisters remember her with great fondness and affection and miss her.
Dany was remembered by Xoco Tribe at our first dance of August, when about thirty sisters and friends were gathered. Elder Meri & I spoke and the dance was dedicated to her memory. Others who knew her remembered her at a gathering of their own.
May the Lord of the Sun, great Inti and all the gods, grant her rest and ensure that eternal light shines upon her. We also pray to the Gods to thank them for the gift of friendship with others. We are truly blessed to have the ability and the opportunity to form friendships in Amazon River. May Dany’s soul rest in peace! AYAHUE!

A very well written tribute.
